Dawley, Chair of the Department of Educational Technology at Boise State University, has designed and conducted training for teachers from K12 Inc., CCC Online, Idaho Virtual Academy, and Branson Online High. She has published The Tools for Successful Online Teaching, and also directs The Center for Online Educators.

Rice teaches intro and advanced methods of K-12 online teaching and has conducted training for Connections Academy, Inc. and Idaho Digital Learning academy, among others.  Her research guides NACOL’s development of upcoming policy briefs on issues related to K12 online schools such as access, accountability, professional development and accreditation.
