Portfolio

Students who enrolled Fall 2008 and after in the Master of Educational Technology program complete a portfolio as their culminating activity.

Prepare Your Portfolio

This is a three-unit course taken after all core courses have been completed.

Students compile various artifacts and reflective statements throughout the course of their studies that demonstrate achievement of competencies in the program. The portfolio is presented to, and evaluated by, a committee of faculty members.

EDTECH 592 — Portfolio:

A broad-based selection of significant student work that is used to appraise student performance and professional development. A portfolio (or Learning Log) reflects the depth and breadth of a student’s educational growth since entering the graduate program. Portfolios may include, but are not limited to, classroom examinations, journals, writing samples, publishable scholarship, professional projects, annotated bibliographies, and artistic endeavors. Pass/fail only.

We recommend that students use an easy, full-featured blogging program, such as WordPress.com to organize and present their work. The Learning Log will initially be a workspace for reflection and collection. However, as students continue to work with WordPress, they might decide to use it for their final ePortfolio showcase.

We have prepared a sample Learning Log (http://edtechbsu.wordpress.com) to show students one way of organizing and presenting their learning.

However, the design is an individual choice and should reflect the student’s own personality and goals. Remember, Learning Logs are a work in progress, but can provide a significant jump-start in organizing one’s work and providing time to reflect throughout the program.
