The portfolio is required for students in the Master of Education Technology (M.E.T.) program who enrolled Fall 2008 and after.
This is a three unit course taken in your last semester in the program. In the course, you will be compiling various artifacts and reflective statements that demonstrate your achievement of competencies in the program. Your portfolio will presented to, and evaluated by, your faculty committee. For more information on the portfolio, please view the online presentation or handout (PDF).
EDTECH 592 - Portfolio: A broad-based selection of significant student work that is used to appraise student performance and professional development. A portfolio reflects the depth and breadth of a student's educational growth since entering the graduate program. Portfolios may include, but are not limited to, classroom examinations, journals, writing samples, publishable scholarship, professional projects, annotated bibliographies, and artistic endeavors. Pass/fail only.

You are required to begin organizing your artifacts, work samples, reflections, and other examples of learning for courses you are taking in the EDTECH program, creating an electronic learning log. We recommend you use an easy, full-featured blogging program, such as WordPress.com (http://wordpress.com) to organize and present your work.
Your Learning Log will initially be a workspace for reflection and collection. However, as you continue to work with WordPress, you might decide to use it for your final ePortfolio showcase.
We have prepared a sample Learning Log (http://edtechbsu.wordpress.com) to help you view one way of organizing and presenting your learning. However, the design is up to you and should reflect your own personality and goals. Remember, your Learning Log will be a work in progress, but can provide a significant jump-start in organizing your work and providing time to reflect throughout the program.
The comprehensive exam is only available to M.S.Ed. students and students in the Master of Educational Technology program (M.E.T.) admitted prior to Fall 2008.
Comprehensive exams are taken in the last semester of study, AFTER all core courses are complete. Students must be enrolled in at least one elective course during this semester. There are no credits associated with comprehensive exams. More information on the comprehensive exam can be found at: http://edtech.boisestate.edu/web/compexam.htm
NOTE: Students enrolled in one or more core courses during their final semester will have to wait to take their comps in the following semester. They must then enroll and pay for 1 credit of EDTECH 600, because Boise State requires students to be enrolled in the semester in which they are graduated. Plan your program of studies early to avoid the extra cost and delay!
