Software

You have the option to use alternative software for word processing, html, and graphics, however, we only provide tutorials and instructions on the products listed below.

Microsoft Office 2007 for PC, or Office 2008 for Mac (Word, Access, Powerpoint, Excel)
Adobe CS4 Web Premium:
Includes Flash CS4, Dreamweaver CS4 , Fireworks CS4, Contribute CS4, Acrobat 9 Pro, Soundbooth CS4, and Photoshop CS4. This professional tool suite is available at the Academic Superstore for $348.95.

Students may also use Adobe CS4 Web Standard, which is available at the Academic Superstore for $398.85.
We recommend that students maintain a subscription to Lynda.com while enrolled in the program. Lynda offers access to thousands of video tutorials on many software applications. As educational technologists, you will constantly encounter the need to learn new technologies, and Lynda can assist along the way.

The BSU Bookstore offers educational pricing on software for all BSU students, and discounts on computers from several manufacturers.

The below software downloads are free. Update your software to the most current version.

Firefox Web Browser - In order to simplify compatibility issues, we recommend students to access their courses using Firefox (not Internet Explorer or Safari).

Quicktime Video Player - Many courses include video presentations which are only accessible using Quicktime.

Macromedia Flash Player - Many courses include A/V presentations which require Flash Player.

Adobe Reader - Many courses include .pdf documents which require Adobe Reader.

Java Runtime Environment - Many courses incorporate content which requires JRE.
