Application Deadlines for Master's Degrees

Fall semester: June 15
Spring semester: November 15
Summer semester: April 1

Applications received after these dates will be wait-listed. Successful candidates will be notified two weeks before classes start.

Application Deadlines for Graduate Certificates

Applications will be accepted up to two weeks prior to the start of classes each semester.

Admission Steps

Non-degree seeking applicants taking single courses complete steps 1 and 2.
Applicants for the M.ET. degree or Graduate Certificates complete steps 1, 2, and 3.
Applicants for M.S. degree complete steps 1 through 4.

Step 1:  Admission to the Graduate College
U.S. citizens and citizens of U.S. protectorates should apply to the Graduate College. The one-time graduate application fee is $55. International students should apply through the International Admissions Office.

Step 2:  Submitting transcripts
Prospective degree-seeking students must submit official transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended. Non-degree seeking students must submit a transcript from the institution granting their highest degree. Instruct institutions to send transcripts directly to Graduate Admission and Degree Services via fax to (208) 426-2789 -OR-

Step 3:  Apply to the Department of Educational Technology
Degree and certificate-seeking students must also be admitted to the department. To apply, submit the following:

1: A letter of application containing the following:

A. Contact information:
     1. Your name
     2. Mailing Address
     3. Phone number
     4. Email address

B. Program title:
     1. Master of Science in Educational Technology (M.S.)
     2. Master of Educational Technology (M.ET.)
     3. Graduate Certificate in (certificate focus)

C. Personal statement:
     1. In 500 words, tell us about your educational and professional background, your goals, and how our courses will help you attain them. Also, tell us why you are choosing our program and why you will be a successful graduate student.
     2. Write it in Times New Roman (or equivalent) in 12 point regular.
     3. Double-space

Save the letter as a Word document and send to edtech@boisestate.edu. Candidates who use word processors other than Word should save their document in .rtf (rich text format) format. If you have questions, call 208-426-1966.

2: A completed and signed Program Development Form.

This can be mailed or faxed. This is a map or a plan of your graduate career. It also serves as your petition if you wish to transfer credits from another institution or program.

Step 4:  Submit GRE scores (M.S. degree only)
Applicants for the Master of Science in Educational Technology (M.S.) degree should submit GRE scores by calling Educational Testing Services (ETS) at 1-888-473-7267 and providing ETS with the Boise State code: R4018.
