Frequently Asked Questions
What is the appropriate dress for the ceremony?
Regalia is required to participate in the ceremony. Business attire is suggested. We also recommend that graduates wear comfortable shoes. Ladies will not be allowed to wear spike or stiletto heels on the playing field, so be sure that you prepare accordingly. You will be walking in the procession and to the reception after the event. Please do not bring anything you need to carry except your name cards into the stadium. There is no place to lock up, secure, or leave personal items. You must either leave items with a family member or carry them with you.
A note for guests; if the weather is inclement, as it can be in the spring, there is very limited seating under cover in Albertsons Stadium. A simple plastic poncho can be the difference between celebrating a great achievement or being miserably wet and cold! Umbrellas are not allowed, as are not other items. See Location and Accommodations for further details.
What color of tassel and hood should I order?

Why are there different colors of tassels and hoods for each college?
Colors are based on the graduate’s degree. They serve as a way of making graduates recognizable based on the college in which they earned their degree.
Where do I place my tassel?
The tassel is placed on the left side.
How much does the regalia cost?
Costs change each year. The current cost for a master’s degree graduate ( cap, gown, hood and one tassel) is $90. You can verify the current cost at the bookstore website here.
What else should I know?
You can make a difference by donating your cap and gown to an “at risk” student at our local Frank Church High School. Many students at this school cannot afford the cost of regalia required to participate in their commencement ceremony. Donation boxes are set up at the reception to collect regalia until 2 p.m. on the day of commencement. Be sure to keep your tassel and medallion.
